Why are Photo Blogs So Popular Here in the Rain ?

This is a great question and I enjoyed reading all the comments - mostly saying, "YES, MORE PHOTOS, PLEASE!"

I recently listed an upscale property and one of the things they liked best about my marketing were the photos they had seen of my other listings.

Why are Photo Blogs So Popular Here in the Rain ?

Fall Color

Do people really enjoy seeing other people's photos of their communities and special events there? I do a lot a photo stories about San Diego Real Estate, the San Diego Housing Market, The Communities that make San Diego and the major events and offerings that a city of this size supports. I also add lots of photo stories of the things I encounter in my travels, sometimes related to my career and sometimes not.

But do consumers really care about these posts? I have wondered about this ever since I started the ActiveRainPhotoblogger group. Seems the members in the Rain like commenting on photos but is there any real value beyond the pleasant experience of encountering these posts?

I know that when I write some of my photo posts, I get bucket loads of comments from our ActiveRain members and Google loves them but is there anything in it for the consumer?

I am learning to become somewhat of a photojournalist and I am personally enjoying sharing my hobby here in the Rain. That's a big and impressive sounding word, isn't it, photojournalist. Why do I spend so much time and resources in this effort if no one really cares?

Being a seasoned real estate professional over 21 years with a number of professional designations and a background in leadership in our industry, one would wonder why I don't write more about the real estate market itself and forget about these posts that take so long to create if the consumers don't really care. Or Do they?

What's your experience? I would love to know what your experience has been. Do you do photos stories of your community and other related subjects just to add a local flavor to your posts or do you believe the consumers benefit? Have you ever received a communication from a potential client, directly related to your photo blogs?
