The Autumn Ikebana Show will be on 10/23/2010 and 10/24/2010 from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM. It will be held at the Quinlan Community Center located at 10185 N Stelling Road, Cupertino, CA 95014.
Nearly 160 ikebana floral artists will present a two-day weekend exhibition on October 23 and 24 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the local chapter's establishment. Visitors will enjoy a wide variety of floral arrangement styles, such as those created in low shallow vases ("moribana"), in tall upright vases ("nageire"), as well as suspended and wall-hung styles, and large-scale floor arrangements.
Highly accomplished Wafu ikebana artists will also present demonstrations of this exquisite art form, discussing the materials and techniques used. Three demonstrations per day will feature different floral materials, styles, and arrangers; demonstration times are 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm, both days.
The exhibition and demonstrations are open to the public at no charge, but a $5 per person donation is appreciated. All activities will be conducted at Cupertino's Quinlan Community Center, 10185 N. Stelling Road. Show hours are 10 am to 5 pm, both days.
This special event is co-sponsored by the City of Cupertino, the Fremont Union High School District, and the Wafu Ikebana Society.
