An open house is a perfect opportunity for the listing agent to ask prospective buyers lots of questions, such as "have you been pre-qualified for a mortgage?" or "how long have you been looking?" Instead of being on the receiving end of all the questions, why not ask a few of your own? Questions that will help you decide if this is the perfect house for you or if you should walk away. Here is Question #4 of "7 Questions You Should Ask at an Open House."
Questions You Should Ask at an Open
#4: Why Are
This seems like a personal
question, doesn't it? Similar to
asking someone what made them decide to buy a foreign car as opposed to
a domestic one. This question, however, is vital to helping
place the right offer on the table - and knowing what is going to
happen after it's accepted.
the fourth question you should ask at an open house is
why the owners are selling. Understanding
and needs of the sellers will help you put together a strong offer that
takes their priorities and timetable for moving into consideration.
Are the owners relocating out of state? Buying a
built home that's still under construction? In escrow to
a larger or smaller residence?
How quickly you'll be able to get into your new home (or how slowly)
makes a lot of difference. After all, an accepted offer isn't
same as moving in!
