This week, the Institute for Business and Home Safety introduced its 40 million dollar disaster simulation lab in  South Carolina.  The Institute which is funded by the insurance industry developed the simulator to test current home building materials and practices, during times of catastrophic weather.  The lab uses 105 very large fans and a 3/4 million gallon watertank to simulate tornadic and rain weather.

Wow.  I guess everyone is hoping they got the safer built house after that one.  What a difference.

I watched this on a morning news show.  They attributed the one still standing to the exterior door opening out, instead of in.  Of course that didn't cost $5k.  The rest of the money was spent on "hurricane hangers" etc. and well worth the money.

Loved watching this again.

I am still amazed.  The ease in which the house pulls away from the "foundation"  is astonishing.
