Phoenix Arizona Area Homes Report Rise in Termite Activity

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Benjamin Realty LLC

In Arizona it is often joked that a person either has a home with termites, or one that has had termites, or a home that will get them. Termites in Arizona – not a matter of “if”, but “when”. Having termites is not a stigma on a home, they just need to be dealt with.

That said, its being reported that there are more termites being noticed and reported recently. Termite companies are finding they are very busy keeping up.

For more about this situation, visit our blog post on the topic. If you find yourself needing a list of some pest companies, then send us an e-mail  - we'll give you a list of some you may find helpful.

Termites sound like no fun - but your blog on the other hand is a great resource!  Keep up the great work!

Bob & Carolin, funny, they say the same thing here in Florida! Must be a WDO inspector thing. Do you think this is in any way related to people trying to save money and not keeping up with their termite bonds?

We have two kinds of termites here, and they swarm about six months apart. It’s a constant fight to keep our homes termite free.

The bug folks in Tucson are busy too!  I wonder what's up with that.

Hi Bob & Carolin:

I guess with the whether you have there, termites are inevitable!

Your sales there, must always be a challenge then...

Bob & Carolin,

I stopped by to see what is shaking in Gold Canyon!  I might take a ride up there this Saturday.

Bob & Carolin,

Wonder who started that saying?  They say the same thing here.

Termites like Texas too (the Houston area anyway).  If you open the Yellow Pages, you can see that it is big business here!  It is normally not thought to be a catastrophe - unless, of course, they go untreated!

Bob and Carolin - one of these days I am going to visit Phoenix, despite the termites! So many people from Victoria go down there for the winter and really love it.

Hi Bob and Caroline..I would never have guessed you had termites in the desert. I thought they needed moisture(water).

Bob and Carolin - we have the same issue with termites in Southern California -  they are there, were there or will be.  As you wrote, we just need to prepare our clients -- it's not a scary thing -- thanks for sharing

Bob & Carolin,

Sacramento has the same issue.  We also own property in Hawaii and yikes.... those termites have the biggest appetites of all.

Bob and Carolin-I feel fortunate that we don't not deal with termites very often in our area.  The treatment process is not a fun one.  I have been fortunate to only have a couple of listings with that issue in the years I have been in real estate.
