After reading my good friend, Linda Barnett's blog on her adventures with all this technology we use to run our staging businesses "The Technological Travels of one Indianapolis Home Stager-and the Journey Lives On!", I was inspired to share with all of you one of the technologies that I cannot live without! I'm seriously in love as it makes my life and business so much easier to manage.
It's called "Evernote" I have NO IDEA how I lived
my life without this beautiful program. If you've never heard of
Evernote, after I tell you what this can do for you, you won't be able
to click over to the website fast enough!
Let's face it, as home stagers (and agents
too!), we are managing many projects, clients and all aspects of
business simultaneously. We need to keep track of so many things and
obviously there is lots of paperwork to go with it. Back in the summer,
I was sitting at my desk surrounded by massive paperwork. Invoices,
client info sheets, contracts, proposals, receipts and many of my own
notes jotting down ideas, messages, reminders, etc. I'm like..."There has
got to be a better way!...I am sick of all this PAPER!!"
So I started to search the net for keeping track of information better
and came across Evernote. I signed up immediately and have been hooked
ever since!
Evernote
makes it easy to remember things big and small from your notable life
using your computer, phone, and the web (that's straight
from their website...)
In other words, Evernote is a place to keep track of EVERYTHING! You'll
remember things too because its all right there! Using 'notebooks' you
create, you can keep record of just about anything.
For my staging business, I've got notebooks for "marketing", "blog ideas", "website ideas", "staging articles", "lighting options", etc. Within the notebook, you can add tags for easy searching, url addresses, screen clippings and your notes. You can also attach documents too. Each of my current clients get their very own "notebook" labeled with their property address. In it, I keep track of EVERYTHING. Emails (yes, Evernote works with your Outlook), documents, photos, lists, contracts, proposals, etc. ) I love the fact I can go to one place, look up my current staged property and its all there! Here's an example straight from my own notebook:
Personal stuff? Evernote's the best. I've got notebooks for recipes, organizing, decor ideas, health, holiday lists, kids, etc. I'm constantly finding things on the internet and Evernote makes screen clipping easy so grabbing the image is a snap.
I know...I know...you're ready to leave me and head over there, right?
Just one warning...you
really need to give yourself at least an hour to read over the website, watch some
videos and dig into their very cool blog chocked full
of ideas. I haven't even scratched the surface of what Evernote can do.
And the partners they've teamed up with...WOW! You'll be amazed! Got an
i-phone or droid? There's a free app for that and you'll never be
without your information. And the best thing of all....it's FREE!! (of
course, there's an upgrade but I haven't needed it yet)
I hope you love Evernote as much as I do! Let me know what you think!
