Silent Saturday -  A preview of Fall in the Beartooth Mountains (South oi Red Lodge)

Up high in the mountains, it was very silent other than a cool breeze blowing on the aspen leaves on this fall day...

I've traveled the Beartooth.  We drove that route from Yellowstone to Red Lodge via Cooke City.  Fabulous, fabulous countryside.  I'll never forget it.  The photo below is one one that I took when we came up on some wild ponies.  I was just amazed.

We also caught some fabulous Cutthroat Trout in Lake Yellowstone.  A memorable month indeed.

Thanks for the memories.

Amazing colors, Gerry!  They hardly seem real!  I also like Lenn's wild ponies.  It is scenes like that which tell us the wild west isn't entirely tamed just yet!

Hi Gerry,

What a PERFECT way to spend the day. Just you and the last blooms for the season. I could almost see you on the top of the mountain, enjoying life and all its simple pleasures, with a cool breeze on your face as you stop to rest. Soon the ground will be covered with snow and wind chills below zero. Aren't you lucky you were there!

Thanks for sharing :)

Al and Peggy,

You know the saying "a picture is worth a thousand words".  Now, how much are 25 pictures worth?  :)

Myrl,

Thanks.  I hope there is not a point where the West could be considered tamed.  Just a wild thought! :)

Cyndee,

It could well be some of the colors of your favorite butterfly too?  No?  :)

I thought of a group of butterflies taking a rest on the aspen and sunbathing when I took this close-up photo.
