The real estate industry is the third largest industry in the state of Texas. While the national real estate market is struggling to find its footing, the Texas real estate market is at the top of all of the expert's lists for anticipated growth in the coming year. The real estate training that is required to start a career in Texas real estate can be completed in just a few weeks and is one of the most inexpensive fields to get into. These are just a few of the reasons why you should consider a Texas real estate career.
Getting a Texas real estate license is easy. If you are at least 18 years old, a Texas resident, and able to provide a background check free of any criminal record then you will be eligible to take the real estate courses that are required. Unlike degree and certification programs that can take years to complete, there are only 210 hours of real estate training necessary to be able to apply to take the Texas real estate license exam. The real estate courses will be broken down into 60 hours of real estate practices, 30 hours covering the laws of agency, 30 hours on contract law, and the remaining 90 hours to be chosen from an approved list of elective courses.
If you pass the final exam for the real estate training you may submit your application to the Commission. At the time that your application to take the Texas real estate license exam has been accepted by the Commission and all of the required fees has been paid you will be issued exam registration information by way of the Candidate Information Brochure (CIB). The CIB will have all of the information that you will need for your examination. Texas real estate license examinations are administered through PSI exams.
In order for your Texas real estate license to become active, you will need a licensed broker to sponsor you; and you will need to provide this broker's information to the test center as your real estate license will be sent directly to the broker sponsoring you. If you have not already done so, while you are waiting for your exam date, you should make sure that you locate a sponsoring broker. You will not be issued an active Texas real estate license until you have a sponsoring broker on record.
