POOCH PARK IN THE PINES

Pooch Park in the Pines is a 3 1/2 acre fenced park, located in Whispering Pines which is only 5 minutes from Pinehurst.  The Pooch Park is a joint project between the Moore County Humane Society and a group of volunteers called "Pooch Park Partners in the Pines".

This dog park offers small dog owners like myself an added piece of mind.  I truly believe that dogs should be socialized as often as possible.  But, I admit I often have a fear of socializing my two small poodles with larger breeds.

Pooch Park in the Pines has two seperate fenced areas.  One for smaller breeds, like my two fur-babies, and one area for the larger breeds.  The fenced areas are gated with a key-entry system (Members Only).  I LOVE it and I haven't had any complaints from my two pups (Basil & Bree) either!  As a matter of fact, tomorrow's weather report looks perfect for a trip to the dog park.  And remember, travel safely in the car with your dogs....see my previous blog about doggie car seats and buckling up!

UNLEASH the possibilites, Join A Dog Park.....Join POOCH PARK IN THE PINES!!!  WOOF WOOF!!!

The Pooch Park is open seven days a week from dawn to dusk.

Memberships start at $35.00 for the first dog and $15.00 for the second dog. Limit is three dogs
per household.

Founding memberships range from $100.00 to $500 and are tax-deductible. Fence sponsorships
as memorials or remembrances are available for $100.00 per ten foot section.

The dog park is located near the 'new' traffic circle in Whispering Pines on old Hwy 22 directly across from the airport hangers on 12 acres owned by Moore Humane Society.

Love the title - clever!  This sounds like a terrific dog park;  although we have a larger breed (we have a German Shepherd who loves her little buddies, which include bichons, llasas and mini dachs) I prefer the separated areas, too, because I always worry about the little guys!

That is a great idea, Denise, to have the dogs separated by size.  While I know that dogs are friendly at the dog parks you just never know what might accidentally happen!

Susan...Sounds like you have a diverse pack of fur-babies!!!  I LOVE them all!

Melanie...Absolutely!

Leesa...I think it is the best & only safe way to organize a dog park, indeed!  We have another off-leash dog park in our County, but it is not entirely fenced-in and it isn't separated by size.  I actually had a bit of a scare there one day a few years ago.  This HUGE Great Dane ran full-speed at me and my two poodles, scaring them and putting us all in a whirl-wind mess of dogs and leashes (mine were still on the leash).  We didn't go back.  Then the Pooch Park in The Pines opened and that is the only off-leash park that we go to now.

Susan - Send an email to shotsppipdogpark@gmail.com and they will be able to assist you with membership.  If you don't get a response, please let me know!  I hope you enjoy the Dog Park!  If you are new to our are, Reservoir Park, is a great place to go walk with your dog (dogs must be on leash).
