6th Annual Wilmington Turkey Trot

November 25, 2010 Wrightsville Beach, NC

Round up your family and friends and get yourselves to the "Wrightsville Beach Loop" on Thanksgiving Day for the 6th Annual Turkey Trot! It's a great way to kick off Thanksgiving Day -- and make a little room for that Thanksgiving dinner!

Choose from a 2.4 mile Turkey Trot or 1 mile or 2.4 mile Gobble Family Fun Walk.

Register online or snail mail by November 22, 2010 for $20 per runner (timing equipment included), $15 per walker. Onsite registration on race day is $25 per runner and $20 per walker. Kids 10 and under are FREE, but must pay and register as adult to receive timing equipment.

Race Day onsite registration begins at 7:30 am. Turkey Trot begins at 8:15am, Gobbler Family Fun Walk begins at 8:30am.

The 6th Annual Wilimington Turkey Trot is organized by, and benefits, the Cape Fear Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

I admire those who do the turkey trot. I got up early one Thanksgiving morning to jog. About half a mile in, thoughts of turkey and cranberries took over and I cut that sucker short.

Tish, I was president of our local Habitat for Humanity until last year. Great cause. I love walking, running or crawling before the big feast, although since I cook I rarely eat during the meal! I am serving, looking after seconds and refilling dishes! LOL! But, later in the evening, after the dishes are done, I get my fill!

Tish, I wish I could join you but I've already signed up for our local Turkey Trot 5K. I try to get in at least one race per month. November is a great running month. It's cooler and there are races everywhere. And...Habitat for Humanity is a wonderful charity. Good luck.

However, I'm pretty certain Cinnamon would be perfect for this -- she can do the Chicken Dance better than anyone I've ever seen! LOL Not sure Zoe should be subjected to that just yet -- you know how impressionable children are!!!
