Photobucket If you are a realtor who is interested in marketing yourself on Facebook you have two choices, your personal Facebook profile page or a Facebook business fan page or possibly both. Your personal page allows you to market your listings, specialties and open houses to your personal friends and take advantage of any referrals or comments from friends and past clients. The Facebook fan page for business is much like a blog and may not be for many realtors because of time required to research, create and post new content, a must for a Facebook business page. A Facebook business fan page requires time, commitment and a little bit of Facebook technical knowledge. A Facebook business page may also require hiring someone to create it and maintain it for you. I personally believe that for a few professions, Realtors, Lenders and Financial Services and Insurance professionals marketing yourself on your Personal Facebook page just make sense! Your clients past, present and future trust you and respect you. In fact they trust you so much they share a lot of information with you about their finances, their dreams and their family that many people do not know. If you do your job right they will automatically be a repeat customer, a referral partner and a spokesperson. Why would you not want to market your products, goods and services to them and allow them to refer their friends and family to you? If done properly they will refer you, your company and your services to their friends and family. After all isn't that what Facebook is all about, a community? Yes for majority of other people marketing your products and services on your personal Facebook page does not make sense, my family Physician for example. Photobucket If you believe in the 80-20 rule then marketing yourself and your business on your personal Facebook page makes sense. The rule states that 80% of your revenue or sales will come from 20% of your clients and the referrals and repeat business from these clients. This rule stresses the importance of marketing on your personal Facebook page. Now if you are convinced about the importance of marketing your products and services on your personal Facebook profile page make sure to do it wisely. SPAM, everyone hates it. I will use a realtor for this example. If they had a unique property, an open house or an investment property that they thought I should know about I would welcome that type of information. I however would not want to be notified of a property 100 miles away that was rural and had acreage to accommodate horses. This stresses the importance of creating lists and marketing the proper type of property to the lists you created. It also stresses the importance of maintaining a data-base and touch marketing concept. Anyone who is going to be successful in sales and be successful in a slow market must employ a touch marketing program. Any Facebook marketing tool that allowed me to visit my realtor's personal Facebook profile page where I could research property, their listings and other information and pass that information to friends and family would be a benefit to me and certainly the realtor using it. If you are a Realtor I encourage you to seriously consider marketing yourself, your listings and any other information about you on your Personal Facebook profile page. It may be the catalyst you and your business are looking for.
