Congratulations to Caldwell Idaho! They were recently named in two awards from the advocacy group Idaho Smart Growth. They received the Smart Growth and Green Building Award.
One of the Awards was for the Treasure Valley Community College (TVCC) that was recently built in Caldwell. The TVCC campus and the City of Caldwell combined forces to build a college that would meet the community needs of Caldwell...providing civic, cultural, social and recreational activities.
The building is 39,000 sq ft of classrooms, testing center, video classroom center, lecture hall , administrative offices, student activities offices, faculty offices, chemistry and biology lab, a bookstore, and a retail coffee/deli shop.
To be eligible for the Smart Growth award, nominated projects were judged in many areas including:
creating a variety of housing opportunities, provide a variety of transportation options..including walking and bike paths, preserving open spaces, put jobs and schools in reach of those who need them, and making development decisions that are fair and cost effective.
