Why?... with this difficult economy, many Realtor's are really suffering.
500 of the 1600 agents in Spokane, Wa have had ZERO TRANSACTIONS this year thus far. Another 500 have had ONE transaction. That leaves 600 with 2 or more. I am guessing the ones with zero or one MUST have another job or source of income. (?) Perhaps a spouse with a "real job". (the kind with salary and benefits)...
I feel like I am having a good year- all things considered. But even the very TOP agents are down an average of 50% this year in Spokane. As agents, we are bearing the brunt of the mortgage crisis. Many have lost homes, jobs, and hope.
I am thankful for the business and the blessings I have. I hope we can wade through this complex, far reaching disaster and get back to a healthy market. One thing I know FOR SURE...We are going to be reading about the current interest rates in the HISTORY BOOKS. Many will WISH they would have bought real estate in THIS MARKET. Think about it... oportunity is all around us...it just might be the best time in decades to invest in real property...
At any rate (no pun intended...) give someone a hug, a word of encouragement, a card, a smile...cheer on your fellow Realtor's today... it has been tough on all of us.
