HIP TIPZ #136

Instead of one large coffee table, try putting 4 small ones together to form a large cube if the room's floorplan allows for it.  It makes for an interesting "table" and it's easier for home staging purposes than transporting and storing one large table.

HIP TIPZ #137

When designing your home gym, make sure it's well lit and comfy.  Be sure to add a flat screen TV as well.  Hey, every incentive to workout helps!

HIP TIPZ #138

Boxwood makes a great container plant.  Place it in the centre of a large container and surround it with flowers.  For the winter, you can store the planted boxwood in your shed.  Most likely it will go dormant and green up again in the spring when you bring it back outside.  Then build your arrangement again.

HIP TIPZ #139

Planting bulbs?  Put in 100 or so of the same colour for drama.  If you want an informal look, scatter the bulbs.  For a formal look, plant the bulbs in rows.

HIP TIPZ #140

Do you love fresh tulips but dislike the "droops"?  Display them inside a fish-bowl vase.  Curve them against the glass for a modern twist.

Al & Peggy - I love boxwood, they look so elegant planted in the right type of container.  I've had great success with them.  All you need to do is buy a few flowers to surround it.  Annual flowers can be very costly, so this is a great way to cut down on that expense.  You can buy a small boxwood for around $7.  In the Fall, you can take out the flowers and put the planted boxwood in your shed until the Spring.  If you want, you can wrap a piece of burlap around it, but I've never had to do that.  When you bring it back outside again after the May long weekend, it may have a tinge of yellow to it.  Don't be discouraged, after a few weeks outside in the sun it will green up again.  I've had the same boxwoods in my planters for 3 years now and they're still going strong!  They're slow growing so all you'll need to do is give them a bit of a trim occasionally.   You'll love them!  This is also a suggestion you can pass on to your clients.  It's an inexpensive way for them to dress up the front of their house.
