THE PROPER PRESENTATION OF

THE BUSINESS CARD

We give and receive business cards on a daily basis.  Have you ever wondered if there are specific etiquette rules on the giving and receiving of a business card?  Absolutely there is!

Watch the next time you are in a group of business people and watch how cards are given out and then pay attention to how they are received.

First of all, the proper presentation of your business card is to present your card with your information facing the person you are giving it to.  Look that person directly in the eye as you present your card.

Accordingly, when receiving a business card do not simply grab it and put it into your pocket, purse or brief case.  Take a minute to READ the card and try and make a comment to the person who gives you the card.

Not only will making a comment make receiving the card a bit more personal, most likely YOU will remember them.

I learned this years ago from a very wise business person and wanted to PASS IT ALONG!  Have a great day!

Who ever thinks about business card etiquette?  Probably not many, but we absolutely should.  I'll bet we'll pay more attention now.

Good idea to hand the card to someone so they can read it.  Usually, they're upside down, backwards, whatever.

Very good points. I do try to look at their card when they give it to me but never really thought about how I hand them mine.

As I have learned this technique, I have found that the connection made is so much more personal when presenting and receiving properly.
