Jump Into the Marketing Matrix with QR Codes!

Services for Real Estate Pros with AnotherME, LLC

With the onset of the recession and the downturn of housing sales, the real estate industry needs a new marketing strategy and that strategy is QR Codes.

I know what you are thinking. It took you a month to get comfortable with your Blackberry or iPhone and now there is something else to learn! When will it ever stop? The good news is probably never and QR Codes will be the next marketing bonanza for real estate.

Just what is a QR Code?
QR stands for "Quick Response" and it's all about retrieving information in a hurry! When you think about it, you can never put all you want to say about a piece of property on a flyer or a yard sign. A QR Code is a two-dimensionl barcode matrix and when scanned with a mobile phone, it can link you to a website, video or agent contact information all in a few seconds!

So, how does this help improve real estate marketing?
That's a great question and so here are three ways (and there are certainly others!) in which real estate agents can use QR Codes.

1. Lawn Signs. This is the most obvious way to use the QR Codes. Let's just say a potential buyer wants to look at a home but the agent is not available to show it. By using a QR Code on a lawn sign, they can can scan it and be directed to a virtual tour or slide show of the property along with other important information.

2. Property Flyers. This is also a good opportunity to use a QR Code. Usually, a flyer contains a plethera of information about the property (more than a For Sale sign would) and so this is an excellent way to direct them to a video about the property.

3. Business Cards. This is where I would suggest an agent add a QR Code to the back of the card. However, don't make the mistake of doing nothing more than linking your potential client back to a website that says the exact same thing as the business card. Get creative and upload a video about who you are. Link them to your Facebook or Twitter accounts. If you have a blog, take them there! My point is give them enough information so when they get closer to the time to buy or sell property, they will think about calling you!

Additionally, I did want to mention that QR Codes are real friendly with tracking the ROI from Direct Mail pieces. So you might want to look into that strategy if you do a mail campaign.

I hope this supplied some useful information for those of you who looking for new marketing strategies. If you are interested in reading more about QR Codes and their uses in real estate, take a look at this great article from Lani Rosales at AgentGenius.com.

And, oh by the way, just posted a video about QR Codes and their potential uses in real estate on AnotherMe.com. Take a look!

There are a LOT of possibilities with QR codes...  The ideas aren't new, but the implementation is cooler...

Patty - We're putting QR codes in our flyers and brochures, as well as on business cards, brochure boxes and sign riders.  I've already seen customers scan our codes, so I know it's being used by the public.  Implementation is the first step and acceptance by the public will follow.

Hi Patty!  I'm excited about these too!  Whenever I talk about them to people their eyes glaze over and they get confused, so I'm working on a simple way to educated folks how to use them.  My fellow agents think I'm nuts but I don't care!

Patty, what a well written recap on some of the basics for QR Codes.  They are going to change how we do business (IMHO) because 1 - they are free and 2 - they are easy!!

On another note YOU were MISSED at the Charlotte RainCamp!!!
