What Activities Get Results From Social Networking In Real Estate?

As more and more real estate professionals jump onto the different social networking platforms the question has certainly come up of what one should actually do to get results.  With over 100,000 real estate professionals identified on Facebook, and a similar number on ActiveRain is anyone generating business?  Maybe a few, but many are heading east looking for a sunset. 

 In real estate we already have 100's of things to do every day and time is limited, so where do we focus our efforts?  Here are just 3 different activities you can focus on when on the on any of the social networks that will save you time and result in you closing business.

 In real estate we already have 100's of things to do every day and time is limited, so where do we focus our efforts?  Here are just 3 different activities you can focus on when on the on any of the social networks that will save you time and result in you closing business.

  1. Time blocking - Your first way to get results starts before you ever logon. Setting time aside for your social networking efforts will allow you to avoid the classic time wasting that goes along with those new to the different networks. You can stay in the conversation easily by just setting aside 3 times during the day to check in and limit each time to no more than 10 minutes.
  2. Status updates - Whether you are using LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter or one of the other big networks doing status updates can seem overwhelming at the beginning. Even though an update can be as simple as just 140 characters, sometimes it seems difficult to find what to say. Your status updates need to provide value to those you are connected with so if you don't have anything good to say, just don't do an update! Status updates are one of the best ways to see results from social networking especially when you stick with it daily.
  3. Make comments - One of the easiest ways to really "join the conversation" is to comment on what other people are doing. You can do this by writing on their walls on Facebook, or by commenting on their status updates on Twitter. Reaching out to individual people in your network will draw them to check on you more often making you a valuable member of those you are connected with.

With the variety of methods to stay connected in the different social networks it can be difficult to get results without the right focus.  Tackling just a few key activities each time you are logged on will ensure that you avoid wasting time and start closing transactions every month.

so many ways to get results ..but you are correct ...great post .....it all ties in together ....the more active you are the better results ....have fun with it ...real estate is a job yes,,,but let's have fun with it too!!!

thanks. I should make more comments on FB. I don't seem to have a problem on AR but for some reason don't spend any time making FB comments. I do see how that could very lead to better/stronger relationships and business. So thanks.
