Rockville Centre Parks and Recreation Department or better known to the people who live in town as "The Rec" offers programs for all ages, as well as community rooms, tennis courts, basketball courts and fields that are used for soccer and lacrosse. There are a variety of programs from Art Classes, to Dancing Classes, to Pre -School. It is a great place for a new family to immerse themselves into the Rockville Centre Community.
Mr. Tony Brunetta, or better known by the children as "Mr. B." is the Superintendent of the Parks and Recreation Center. He has done a wonderful job of serving the community and offering the variety of programs for all ages. As a result of his 35 years of dedication the addition to the Anderson Center has been dedicated as the Anthony T. Brunetta Pavilion. You can usually find him inside making sure all activites are running smoothly.
Pre-school programs are extremely popular as well as the summer programs for elementary and middle school children. Some examples of classes - For Infants and Toddlers: Happy Piano Baby Bounce, Roll Around, Parent Toddler Workshops, Ages 3-5 - Gym and Jam, Happy Piano. The Rec also offers Pre-Pre Kindergarten, Nursery School (My Daughter went-and loved the program-I did as well!!).
The Rocvkille Centre Parks and Recreation Department also sponsors various activities throughout the year. Events planned for the next several weeks include - Fresh Water Fishing, Dean Skelos Golden Gathering information exposition for Seniors, Halloween Mural Painting Contest, Halloween Ragamuffin Parade and Party, and The Annual RVC 10K and One Mile Family Fun Run.
This weekend is the Halloween Ragamuffin parade! Come out and enjoy the creative costumes and the parade starting at The Village Green proceeding dwon Maple Ave to "The Rec". It is a great afternoon!
