Change Your FaceBook Fan Page Name - If You Named It Incorrectly, Now Is the Time for a Change

If you named your FaceBook Fan Page incorrectly or are wishing you chose something different, now is the time to change it.  For instance, I ran the words in the name together like I would in a URL, but it made it unsearchable, so I changed it tonight.

How do you do this?

How to Change Your FaceBook Fan Page Name

  • Login to FaceBook
  • Go to account in the upper righthand corner
  • Click manage pages
  • When you open up to your fan page, click on Edit Page account under the photo icon of your page
  • Name is the first option - change it to your choice
  • Click save changes
  • You're done!

Even if you named it as you intended, you may find that you named it after yourself, and this may not be the best way to market it.  If that's the case, maybe you want to rename it to reflect your niche or your area.

Consider your options, and then change it before FaceBook changes the rules, again.

If you have any questions, please contact me, and I'll do my best to help.

Edit - Apparently this only works if you have less than 100 fans.

This announcement came out after I really struggled with what to do since I had misspelled my name.  Long story, I did it a long time ago when I think you could only have one page and not change names or something.  I abandoned it and then started using it to realize the type.  So I finally did a new fan page and am begging people to like the new one then this announcement comes out!  Drat! Should have debated for a few more days I guess!

That didn't work for me!  I followed your steps and when I landed on the page to edit it it didn't give me the option to change the name - in fact the field was not editable - I checked the FB FAQ's on this subject and here's what I got:

It’s not currently possible to edit the name of a Page. If you would...
It’s not currently possible to edit the name of a Page. If you would like to change your Page name, you will need to delete your Page and recreate it. The Facebook team isn't able to change Page names for you.

This is very timly....I was just doing the same thing and had the same problem as Uzi and Christine.  What I found out was that you have to have at least 25 fans or likes before you can change you url.   So my suggest for myself as well is to get promoting your page! You can like me here.  I know shamless!

Hi Christine,

Lots of comments. Thanks for sharing.

You got to me just in time. It doesn't work if you have more than 100 fans?

I had 4 fans, but two left, so I now have 2!

Brian - You're welcome.

Melissa - I'm glad you were able to do that.  We're talking about the same thing.  I thought you only had to have 25 fans?

Ryan - Glad you got this done.

Debe - Having so much fun!

Jennifer - I hope you took the chance to get it done.

Jeff - I was really happy to learn this, and really wishing I hadn't deleted one of my pages a few weeks ago because of this issue.
