Glenn Abbey Toastmasters ~ Where People Are Dying to Get In!

Hello Friends of Glen Abbey Toastmasters,

We have another exciting Toastmasters Meeting this evening, with two Great Speakers (Laura Muralles and Ed Gain). Laura will be giving her first speech, the Ice Breaker and our fantastic Mentor Ed will be honoring the theme for the evening by presenting us with "The Raven" from Edgar Allan Poe.

This week's topic is "HALLOWEEN" and we look forward to exploring the topic with our Toastmaster, Veronica Ruiz! This will be Veronica's first meeting as Toastmaster and we are looking forward to her spinning her web through the evening.

Come out, have a good time, laugh a little, learn a little, and maybe speak a little (if you want)!

Guests and new members are always welcome at Glen Abbey Toastmasters!

Come and see how you can grow and become a better speaker, listener, and thinker. How can we help you achieve your goals? Come to Toastmasters and find out! Stop by and see how much fun we're having!

Meeting Time: 6:30-8:00pm

Date: 10/27/10 Wednesday

Location: Glen Abbey Memorial Park

3838 Bonita Road (west entrance)

I thought about going to Toastmasters. I'm not afraid of speaking in front of a group if I know the material inside and out, but if I don't, I sputter and stammer, or worse, go blank, and get embarrassed. I'm sure that getting up in front of people time and time again would ease that.  Public speaking is becoming more and more important.

I loved the way the theme of the event was woven throughout the announcement!  That was really cute!

I agree with Lynda about the importance of public speaking.  You just never know when you'll have to get up and speak so it's always best to be prepared!

The greatest thing about Toastmasters is that it really is a "safe" place to practice your speaking, listening and presenting skills. Everyone is really positive and provide helpful feedback. I have participated in Toastmasters for a few years now and my business partner and I started this club. We are the most experienced speakers of the group other than our mentor who is from another club. I spoke at one of our first meetings and I flubbed it so bad! It actually was good for all of the new members to see that it is ok to mess up and start all over again!
