downtownOxford Michigan ranked among best to do business.

Officials are always saying that the Village of Oxford is a great place in which to do business. Well, now they have a university study to back up their boast.

On Tuesday, the village was recognized as one of the top 55 communities in the entire state, according to the 2010 eCities project. Oxford was 1 of 28 communities given a 5 star rating. The remaining 27 municipalities achieved 4 star ratings.

eCities is an annual study that examines community factors that influence entrepreneurship, economic development and job growth in cities, townships and villages. Conducted by iLabs, which is the University of Michigan-Dearborn's Center for Innovation Research, the study's primary purpose is to understand and share the best practices for entrepreneurial growth.

As a 5 star community, Oxford shared the spotlight with Ann Arbor, Troy, Northville, Novi, Royal Oak, Southfield and Frankenmuth to name a few.

And, hey, if the U of Michigan say it, it can't be wrong!

That's pretty cool news. Oxford is a nice town, and I always like doing inspections out that way.
