Thinking of Going the DIY SEO Route? Read this first!

By
Real Estate Technology with Real Estate Technology and Marketing

You're tech savvy. You have LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook accounts. You've even set up your own blog on Wordpress and you accept ads.

Good for you! Seriously! You're way ahead of most people. Truly, you are. We're not being facetious. You really are way ahead of the curve.

But should you create, and optimize your own real estate website? We don't necessarily think so.

Now, marketing your business on the Internet isn't rocket science. We're the first to admit that (just ask our college physics professors). It's easy enough to use online keyword research tools to come up with different keywords for your RE site. You can then optimize your site for those keywords and then perform terrific off-site optimization by tweeting, posting to Facebook and on your blog.

It's not hard, but it's not easy. It's not easy for you, a busy real estate professional to take the time to really learn how to do SEO correctly and to do the actual optimization (the coding, the writing, the distributing of articles, the ever-present tweeting and updating your status on Facebook).

Do you really have that kind of time? Do you? Really?

Or if you do have the time, is it really the best use of your time?

We know how hard it is to give up control. After all, as a real estate professional, you're in business for yourself. And chances are you got into real estate because you wanted to have more control over your career, your future, your potential earnings, over how you spend your time. But, you also know that there are some things you need to delegate and creating and optimizing your real estate website are two of those things.

We strongly urge you not to DIY your own SEO if you don't have the time to do it right. Leave your SEO to the SEO experts. We hope of course that you choose RealthTech.com to create/or optimize your site today; we are truly real estate SEO professionals!

Rob, you are so right!  We often get wrapped up in all the techno stuff & lose track of our real estate business.  There is a fine line of affordability, however. In this down market, I find myself working longer hours & doing it ALL!

I will check out your site.  Thanks for the post!

Rob,

Your point is proved out with just a little keyword research. There are a large number of seemingly good keyword tails with no clicks taking place. That is just a waste of time.

Good Speed,

Steve

How do you choose a good SEO company from the thousands out there that profess to do the same thing for you?

Thanks guys for the comments.

Don, you are definitely not alone. This is a story that we hear all too often here at RealtyTech. You can spend hours upon hours everyday working on blogs, SEO, web design, etc. I truly respect all of you that are somehow able to balance everything out.

Ryan, choosing the right SEO company for your industry can be a headache. Luckily, we have a blog that has a few tips! Check out "how to find a good real estate SEO company." Obviously we're a little biased on the subject, but there is a lot of good information in that blog. The best advice I can give is to do as much research as possible so that you don't end up wasting your time and money. Just remember, even great SEO work can take 3-6 months to show placement depending on how competitive the area is!
