After three years of work on the rewriting of Fayetteville's zoning, subdivision and development codes into a unified ordinance, the Fayetteville Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend the changes. Next step, to the City Council. This will be done next month.
The new ordinances are expected to provide the guidelines for many years on things such as sidewalks and how streets are layed out in new neighborhoods.
As a result of some upset and complaints from developers and home builders stemming from anticpated higher construction costs associated with the new ordinances. City planners responded by making some changes to the original proposals.
We will all have to stay tuned to see what happends next.
