Duh!  I've Been Trying to Get Some Pictures Off of My Camera For Two Days!

Two days ago, I took some pictures of a new rental listing at 1503 Harrison Lane. When I got home and connected the USB to the camera and my computer, I kept getting a message that the device was unrecognizable. Ooookaaaaay.  I'm not panicking.  I'll just try the other USB port.  Nothing happening there either.

Not to worry Charita.  Just wait until you get to the office and connect it to the desktop. Whew!  I'll be relieved then.  That is until I found out that my laptop must have talked to my computer and told the computer to tell me that it was not able to recognize the camera device. Well being the obedient little desktop that it is, it naturally followed orders given by the laptop.

So here  I am 53 hours after I've taken the photos, still trying to get the pics off of the camera.  And then it hit me.  Duh?

Why don't you take the disk out of the camera and insert it into your computer!  Some days are just better than others and finally, I can show prospective tenants this fabulous 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with 2 car garage, a fenced in backyard, formal dining room, great room with fireplace, spacious walk in closest on a coveted corner lot.  Allow me to introduce this Birmigham rental home at  1503 Harrison Lane in the Winewood area of Birmingham, Alabama

Charita, what matters is, you got it, finally. We all have to go through this sometimes...

Charita ... Sometimes no matter how carefully I pour 8 ounces of coffee into a 6 oz cup ... it always overflows ... (LOL)  This is where the expression "take a deep breath and count from 10 backwards" comes in handy!

Yes Praful that is what matters:  My mission was accomplished.

Oh boy Jack do I ever hear you.  Counting backwards sure would have come in handy.  Now I just have to figure out whether the problem is with the camera or the USB.  But for now, I'll just be happy to be able to use the disk.

I hope you solve that internal clock problem.  That is really weird.

I do the same thing all of the time.  Take a simple thing and make it difficult... I'm great at it!.

Like Curt, I am also great at making things as difficult as possible for myself, so I totally can relate to that! Made me laugh! Glad you got them off!

It happens to all of us in some form or another...too close to the problem to see the solution that is right in front of us....back away a bit and it gets clearer!  Congratulations on the new listing!

Curt and Susie are you two going for the MS degree in Overcomplicating Simplicity?  I thought I saw you in class.

Alex ain't that the truth and just in the nick of time too (I still have a few strands of hair on my head).

Thanks Barbara and yes I was going nuts.  Just when I printed off the shipping label to send it to service, I had an ephiphany to take the dang disk out.  That was after I had been online with customer service for over 30 minutes.  You would have thought that they would have suggested that I take the disk out.

Thanks BLiz.  That is so true though about being too close to a situation.  I can't tell you how that can resonate in other areas of our lives.

CA I second that emotion.  Thanks.

Wallace I don't think I've tried that, but I will today to see if it works. Otherwise I'll just ship it for service. Looking forward to seeing those RainCamp pics.  Post a lot of the them for us.

Just wait, pretty soon your cameras are going to have wifi built in (some already do), and you just upload the pictures straight to the interwebs from the camera.  No more plugging in at all.  Then comes wireless (inductive) charging sometime soon too.  No more cords, YAY!

At least you had the card in the camera to take the pictures.  I've left the card in the computer so the camera did nothing.  My Duh moment.  Finally realized the problem and was able to use the card from the second camera we always take in case the first one does not work.

Oh goodie Nathan:  An anticipated learning curve.  That's just what I need.  Just kidding.  There are so many good tools avaialable for our use.  Half the fun is deciding which one is right for each of us.

Mel I've got to give you props for carrying the spare.  Way to go.

I have a card reader with 4 slots so my computer needs to find which card is put in the slot which takes some time.  5 different cameras and 3 DIFFERENT cards...
