Check Out How Local Agents Are Showing Up On The First Page of Google Search Results!

Services for Real Estate Pros with Zillow

I'll start by saying I'm no SEO expert, but I found this very interesting.  I've seen a lot of debates as to whether or not social media is worth the time and effort.  Well, this Google search result makes a strong case for why it is.

We all know that the first page of the Google search results is the holy grail when it comes to driving traffic to your site.  Check out this search I did for "wicker park homes for sale".  In Chicago this is a very competitive search term.  Large brokers/websites dominant the first page - people who spend a lot of time thinking about SEO.  What's a smaller operation to do?

Check out the last two spots of the search results! These are people in my social networks that I know and trust.  How cool that they now can compete to provide very relevant search returns for me!  So you'd want to show up in as many people's search returns as possible, right?  And this is just another reason why I think building strong social networks are important for today's real estate professional.

thats fantastic, it does work, it just takes time and dedication and the knowledge of what steps to take and what works.  Thats why Active Rain is so such a great resource.

I have always wondered how people have time to update Facebook, twitter, linked in etc. How do they do it? Is there somewhere you can "auto do" all those sites at once?

Yes, there are ways to update multiple networks at once, but I don't personally recommend them.  I have different audiences and say different things on my networks.  I think it looks bad when someone has their Twitter status and their Facebook status.

However, I LOVE, LOVE Nutshell Mail.  It is a free site that emails me updates from all my networks in one email.  Check that out.  You can comment straight from the email, because you want to make sure you are engaging your network.  But this is a great tool to keep you current, and it is very customizable.  I wrote a blog post about it awhile ago.
