If you are traveling down Sudley Manor Drive toward Splash Down Park, you might just miss the Ben Lomond Historic Site on your right. This historic site does not have much frontage on the main road. Once you learn that Prince William County is hosting haunted house tours here, you will likely slow down and take the time to look for it.
The Ben Lomond House was built in 1832. However, it is believed to gained its spirits when it was used as a Confederate hospital after the First Battle of Manassas in 1861 during the Civil War. Can you even imagine having to turn over your home to service war injured soldiers? It's hard to even imagine that time in our history.
The remaining Ben Lomond Haunted House tours are happening on October 29th and October 30th. All tours are at night. I mean, you wouldn't expect a tour of a haunted house during the day, would you? Tours start at 7 pm, 8pm, 9pm and 10pm. Admission is $5. Children are welcome, but they might enjoy my special Halloween offer to blog readers more..
Part of the Ben Lomond Haunted House tour will be visiting with the fine folks from the Mid-Atlantic Paranormal Investigator Group. They will be there to show tourists the tools they use in their search of paranormal activity. If you are an avid ghost hunter, this is worth the the price of the ticket.
The Ben Lomond House is a great place to visit year round. That being said, Halloween is certainly an entertaining time to take the Haunted House tour and learn about our area's rich Civil War history. The house is located at 10311 Sudley Manor Drive.
