Wellington Events: Palm Beach Steeplechase: Kick off the Equestrian Season with a fun, fast paced exciting event we all look forward to each year here in Wellington Florida.

Saturday November 27, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thanksgiving weekend.

If you have not been to a Steeplechase now is your time to go! It is a lot of fun. The Steeplechase started in Ireland in the 18th Century and is just as exciting today as it was back then for participants and spectators.

There are five sanctioned races over hurdles so get your sports cameras ready. You can stand along the racetrack on many different vantage points during the races. The first race is scheduled to be at 1 p.m. The races are run at a 2 1/4 mile distances.

Join the fun by entering the Hat Contest and watch the Jack Russell Races.

There are plenty of children's activities with a petting zoo, pony rides, face painting and children's fair.

The whole family will have a blast watching the Police as they take on the Firefighters in a Tug-O-War and then listen to the Palm Beach Firefighters Pipe and Drum.

The even started off last year with a Skydiving event which is going to be there again this year.

The wellington Chamber of Commerce is hosting the business fair.

People come from all over the world to take part in Wellington's Palm Beach Steeplechase.

We anticipate thousands of people to attend this event. The Steeplechase race is so exciting to watch. We have so much fun at Steeplechase because most all the Equestrian events here in Wellington Florida are Polo events and Hunter/Jumper and Dressage events. We don't get many races here so Steeplechase adds another dimension to the venues that make Wellington Florida a first class and world famous equestrian area.

The pictures are crystal clear for two reasons: 1 is the great Nikon P6000 that is an absolutely amazing camera with speed setting- I took the photos of the horses running in the speed mode. Super Cool then I upload them to none other, yes, you guessed it, Apple's AMAZING iPhoto program where you can get rid of shadows. So simple to use too. I am glad you enjoyed the photos! Katerina

Chris- I tried to take a photo of the skydiver last year but I was not fast enough. WHen the sun is in my eyes it is hard for me to focus on the object. :)
