Christmas Bazarr at the Expo Center

Since 1982 the Christmas Bazaar at the Portland Expo Center has been a wonderful, local tradition.  It's billed as America's Largest Christmas Bazaar -- and I don't doubt that.

Going to America's Largest Christmas Bazaar has become one of my holiday traditions for the past 4 years.  I love it!!  The Christmas Bazaar at the Expo Center is the EASIEST event to get to.  Which is why I go.  The MAX runs right to the Expo Center, so I don't have to drive, park OR pay the Expo Center parking fee.  I drive to the transit center, and get on the train . . .

The Christmas Bazaar at the Expo Center runs the two weekends AFTER Thanksgiving, each year.  This year, America's Largest Christmas Bazaar runs November 26th - 28th, 2010 & December 3rd - 5th, 2010
and takes up two Expo Center exhibit halls, D & E.  Don't worry, you'll find it!

Friday, Nov 26:      10am-6pm                   Friday, Dec. 3: 10am-6pm
Saturday, Nov 27:  10am-6pm                  Saturday, Dec. 4: 10am-6pm
Sunday, Nov 28:    10am-5pm                   Sunday, Dec. 5: 10pm-5pm

Admission:  Adults $6.50 / Kids (12-17yrs) $3.50 / Kids 11 and Under: FREE

Parking is $8, which is why I take the MAX Yellow Line

Why do they call it America's Largest Christmas Bazaar?  There are 900 booths -- 300 of the booths are allocated to LOCAL, HAND-CRAFTED items.

There are unique gifts in all price ranges.  There's "commerical" items and vendors, balanced with the hand-crafted booths make this a holiday event worth planning for.

The Christmas Bazaar at the Expo Center America's Largest Christmas Bazaar offers;

  • Candy, baked items, jams, perserves, cheeses . . .
  • Clothing -- for the Holidays
  • Tree trimming ornaments
  • Stocking stuffers
  • Pet treats
  • Snow globes, music boxes
  • and things you never thought you could live without

I always try to find NUTCRACKERS -- which I have been collecting for about 10 years.  Oddly, they don't have many.  How bizarre.

I have not been to Portland since MAX got started. When I was there, I wondered why they didn’t have a public transit system that included trains. Considering what a great year I’m having, perhaps a short jaunt up to Portland to ride the trains early next year might be in order.

Hey Kate -- it's a nice place to call home!

Hi Barbara . . . When I go, I'll take some pictures.  I armchair travel too.

Hey Russel -- MAX really serves quite a few communities now. And if you do get up here, let me know!
