I FEEL LIKE AN EGG

I'm a little cracked; there are a few chips.  I've been knocked around quite a bit of late.  However, I am whole on the inside.  I am still growing and doing what I need to do to become what I was meant to be.

My country is in the same state of affairs. The government is cracked and almost broken.  It is being knocked around a lot.  The external message is exhausting.  There are as many theories regarding how to fix us as there are candidates who have a solution.  The media is quick to find fault and place blame as are those in office.

However, the American people are still doing what they need to do to survive and be the very best they can be despite the circumstances.  It isn't easy.  We are making sacrifices.  We are changing the way we live.  We are scaling down.  We are learning new careers.  We are working longer hours and retirement is being put on hold.  Best of all, we are still giving to those less fortunate than ourselves.  We are giving our time, our money and our energy to the increasing number of people who are less fortunate than ourselves.

I am so proud to be an American.

I think the politicians have decided they know best.  We will try some others and see if they know what they are doing.  If they do not we will find others until we find honest ones.

Hi "Elite"!
I keep hoping for a "normal" person to run for office...someone who really does get it...who doesn't worry about party lines or keeping their job next time.  Now THAT is a person I would enthusiastically vote for!

Paula:  As hard as anything seems to be, these days... I find it very easy to remember that there are millions and millions of people who would trade places with any of us... in a heartbeat.  That may not be very much of an "uplifting" thing to say, but it sure is true.

Be that as it may, I can right now think of several people on the political right... who I wish SOMEBODY would change places with.  <smile>

Paula, we Americans are a resilient bunch.  I do think we need to look closely at our politicians who we vote in office.  Time to re-examine the way we've always done things -- maybe there are better ways.  Nice post, thanks

The politicians seem to look at the job in Washington as a way of them making a decent living.

The fact that back home folks are screwed/broke/laid off doesn't seem to mean much.

I'm going to vote...in hopes that one of these people will really make a difference. (I doubt it...it's always everyone else pushing them to do this or that anyway)  Needless to say, I believe we are in better shape than most the world...and I just bet if we weren't brought up so spoiled...we'd ALL appreciate what we do have....and stop focusing on what we do not have.

I'm proud.

Hi All!
I wish that this was just about the Tuesday elections, but this took us years to get to...maybe even a century or two.  I am concerned about how we change such an inevitable tide.   Until then, I plan on selling real estate, loving my family and pets and getting on with life.
