Were Greensboro voters short sighted?

Well, most of the election results are in.  As long as you voted, that's what counts, whether your candidates won or not.  Obviously, the country wanted a change.  How this will effect real estate remains to be seen.

Here in Greensboro, North Carolina, we had to vote on raising the sales tax by .25%.  We are talking about a quarter of one penny.  But, the voters were against it and it failed.  No one, including myself wants higher taxes.  The unfortunate result of last night's vote means our property taxes will go up by about $100.00 a year for most homeowners.

The local real estate community fought hard for the sales tax increase.  It made more sense to spread the tax around to anyone shopping in the area, rather than burdening just home owners.  It was a valiant try, but unsuccessful.

How will this effect home sales?  Honestly, I'm not sure.  But, it certainly won't help.
