Recently I was thinking about ( thank you Pat Sajak for that phrase) why it is people, neighbors, friends, do not want to talk to us about Real Estate?
Is it because they are afraid of us, Real Estate Agents, selling them something?
That can hardly be it. How in the world would I do that? Twist your arm, drag you to a lender, of your choice, get you preapproved, push and shove you into a house that's for sale, which would be awesome for you, force the pen into your hand, after I bored you half to death with about 40 pages of contract script, and make you put your name on the dotted line. Then drag you to a home inspector and a to a title company, of your choice, get everything set up and make you sign another 40 pages to hand you the key and say Congratulations you just signed your live away to a loan of a quarter million dollars ( or more) have fun paying it off!
Seriously? Is that what people think? Frankly, you (the people) don't pay me enough to do it like that!
However, if you are wondering about what is going on in Real Estate, and whether it is or is not a good time to make a move? Are trying to find out it might be a good idea to buy Real Estate, because folks will always need a roof over their head, so what better investment to make...just to be smart about it? I would be happy to sit down with you and talk about it. Maybe have some coffee together and talk.
And then, if you do decide it might be a good time to make a move, maybe because interest rates are sooo low rate now, home prices are awesome and I have access to loan programs that could actually get you into a house, also your credit score might only be around 500; if that is what YOU decide to do, then, and only then, will I be more than happy to take you by the hand and lead you through the process. Politely suggesting min. 3 lenders you could use, show you any and every house in your price range and the area you want to be in. Diligently explain the purchase offer to you, to make sure you understand (if you don't we will find you an attorney who can explain the legal consequences and terms) Give you at least 3 Title companies who could assist you and me with the paper process, suggest a minimum of 3 Home Inspectors, so you can make sure you are making the right choice of home. You are about to make one of the largest purchases of your life, afterall.
And then, at the settlement table, after you are done signing that big stack of papers, which the settlement officer will explain to you in detail until you have no more questions; I might be jumping for joy - having helped yet another person to find a home.
Of course, respectively I will do the same in case you decide you need to sell your home. From preparing a comparative Market Analysis to assist you in deciding on the best price for your home, to signage, to advertising and announcing to the neighbors a great property has become avaiable in their neighborhood. Over scheduling showing appointments, following up with agents and their buyers, over reading through the contract, negotiating the best deal for you according to your guidelines. Explaining the home Inspection and appraisal Process and outcome, frowning with you over them doggone taxes that have to be paid with every transaction. Waiting patiently with you the 45, 60, 90 days it might take to get to the settlement table.
But then, once there, and finished signing, handed off the key to the new owners, I will happily shake your hand and sincerely wish you all the best on your next step in your life, where ever that might take you. Maybe even to the settlement table again, the same day, to sign off as a buyer on your new home of choice.
Now is that so bad? Is that really such a bad outcome, that friends, acquaintenances, neighbors - people -can not even sit down with us or call us - me preferrably - to ask us how is the market doing?
How is it doing in your opinion? But that's another thought I have been thinking about...
