SPRINT....You've gone too far!

By
Real Estate Agent with Cooper & Associates Real Estate

A few months ago, I blogged about how much I hate Sprint.  Shortly thereafter, Sprint announced that they are releasing "problematic" customers, who continually call their customer service, from their contracts.  In other words, they are FIRING their clients.

Fine...No big deal to me...I switched to a better network.  More reliable to me for where I conduct business and when I conduct business....Basically anytime, anywhere.  On the other hand, my client's 74-year old Grandmother received her first ever cell phone for her 74th birthday, which was on the Sprint network.  They really felt that she needed to carry one for emergencies and what not.  A week after getting it, the family tries to educate her on voicemail and the other basic features of the phone.  She was having a problem getting her voicemail once her family left so she took it upon herself to call Sprint for assistance.  I mean, that is who you call when you have a problem with either product or service, right?  She called numerous times because she couldn't get service and would complain about legitimate dropped calls.  They flagged her as a "problematic customer" because she kept calling for the same thing and sent her a letter for Termination of Contract.

OK, now I understand Sprint's comments and comebacks in regards to scammers constantly trying to get credits for bogus stuff, BUT A 74 YEAR OLD WOMAN, whose just trying to understand the whole cell phone system?  That's pretty low Sprint.

I agree.  That is pretty lame for a big company!

Then again, I've worked for AT&T for more than 27 years and I'm biased.

I have never liked Sprint for these very reasons. Sprint makes the rules as they go along. Now, we all know what would happen if WE as the customer terminated our contract early. Eventually the word will get out , like always and someone will buy them out !

Sprint stinks! In fact,I fired them last week!Their lousy service wasnt going to be tolerated anymore. In fact, after I changed, the person behind me in line, was another Sprint customer looking to switch. If they lose enough customers, maybe then they will change thri customer service habits!

I've had my own struggles with Sprint.  Starting with the employees in the store.  I think they should at least have to own a smart phone to be selling one.  The Coconut Point Sprint store may as well have chimpanzees running it, nobody knows what they're doing. I've made 4 trips in 30 days back to the store because the phone was never set up right the first time.  4 trips.

My broker, who was in the store the same day, buying the same phone has nearly the same feedback.

(do it missy)

Chris --Next time she gets a phone the best way to train someone is Tell, SHow, Do. On over the phone help they can tell you but they can not show you how to do it and they can not have you do it in front of them to make sure they are doing it right.

On another tangent, if we as agents took the same attitude towards troubled sellers, perhaps we would not have the bloated over priced inventory we do in most areas.  The fact is that in business we have come to assume that it is the customer's decision whether to do business or not, but the provider also has a dog in the fight and has the right to choose not to so business with time wasters.

Dan,

I see what you're saying.  We as real estate professionals also "fire" sellers who don't want to cooperate by lowering the price in a saturated market.  Or "fire" buyers who are unrealistic with their budget/expectations of the home that they wish to acquire.  However, my client's grandmother, in my opinion is like the nervous first time home buyer that is overly cautious with all aspects of the transaction.  No need to fire them...just a little more patience explaining the product/process and they'll be your best clients...again, just my opinion.  I think Sprint is becoming the snooty service provider with their bad customer service, poor cellular service and now their approach to terminate relationships with customers that just because they called the customer service line one too many times and now needs to shell out more money for a new phone with a new carrier.  I just don't think it's right.

That's absolutely ridiculous. Part of me wishes they'd release me from my contract, too.

Crazy!  Guess that's how Sprint keeps only those customers that will say good things about them.
There network has been BAD for a long time!

Verizon is definately the best...
