Frustrated Seller Leaves This Note On The Door...

Carols' post about the unusual seller is probably one of the best examples of how a seller can hurt their chances of selling their home. Can you imagine a seeing that note as you walk up to the house with your clients? I know that some buyers would definitely be turned off by said note. Some of them might even get a bit offended. I'm sure as Carol pointed out the seller has had some bad experiences but I feel the sellers should have given more thought to placing that note on their door.

Dear Agents:

If your clients do not have a pre-approval letter, don’t ring the bell.

If they are just simply curious, don’t ring the bell.

If they are not ready to put in an offer, don’t ring the bell.

If they are looking for a colonial, a ranch or something unique, this is obviously a raised ranch, so don’t ring the bell.

If they are looking for bargain basement prices, fire sales or foreclosures – this ISN'T, so don’t ring the bell.

This is a busy household where we entertain often, we are not at your beck and call. 24 hours notice and structured appointments ARE required.

We have respectful chidren, so keep theirs in line with their hands in their pockets.

If your clients appreciate a quality home - PLEASE ring the bell.

Okay, it's NOT my listing.  Thanks goodness!  I showed the house yesterday to a prospective buyer.  Oh my!  We must have a frustrated seller on our hands. I was a little flabbergasted.

I glanced at the listing sheet and noticed that the house has been on the market for 240 days.  The listing agent's remarks read "24 HOUR NOTICE, DO NOT LET CATS OUT, PLEASE REMOVE SHOES. OWNER VERY ANXIOUS TO SELL." Signs in the children's room next to the amazing lego display read "do not touch."

All appointments must be made directly with the listing agent and I suddenly remembered that when I had called the listing agent to schedule the showing she pleaded with me to let her know if I would be running late or would not be coming at all.

I suppose this seller has had some bad experiences while the property has been on the maket and wants everybody to tow the line. And, we should!

I'm not sure how long that note has been on the front door, but I can certainly understand the seller's frustration.

I can also understand that some buyers might actually be a little turned off and intimidated about doing business with this seller.

So, I am just wondering now ....as funny as it is, or as serious as we should take this - do you think some things are better left unsaid?

WOW!  I don't know any buyer who wouldn't be insulted by reading that.  I understand the frustration, but yikes... that agent has their hands full.  I think it shouldn't be said... Unfortunately you have some Realtors, and buyers out there that waste a lot of sellers time and make ridiculous offers...
