Is School Called Off Today?

Is school called off today?  Yesterday's freak snowstorm brought to mind how exciting it is for the kids to get a day off from school due to snow (or the possibility of it).  My kids always rejoiced when they received the gift of a snow day, even when they knew they would have to make it up at the end of the year.  Their favorite way to check for school delays or cancellations was Connecticut Weather Inc. because they could refresh the page and watch the list grow until Cheshire High School finally showed up on the list.  Then they could go back to sleep.

Other places to check for school closings are Channel 16 on Cox Cable (dedicated to all things Cheshire) and the local news channels (but you have to watch the list at the bottom of the page, and they always break for ads when it gets to the "Cs").  Better yet, check the websites for the local TV channels:  WFSB, WTIC, WVIT, or WTNH.

Here's to many Happy Snow Days!

Not looking forward to the snow.  I HATE driving in it.  Plus, not fun to get my samples in and out of the car w/ the snow everywhere.  can't wait until spring.

It would be nice if we could get the leaves cleaned up before we have to shovel snow. My leaves are usually still falling in December.

Chris it's starting to look like we're going to have an interesting winter. All the patterns are there including the rings on those caterpillars and the number of squirrels running around for nuts

Hi Debbie - Showing properties in the snow isn't much fun either!

Hi Pat - The oaks in my yard have already lost their leaves, but the others are hanging on for dear life!

Hi Ed - I know the kids in school will be happy if there are lots of days off.  However, I have all wheel drive this year, so there probably won't be any snow.

Wow Chris, your picture made me cold by looking at it. It does seem early to have snow.  I hope this winter is not as cold as last winter was.

Well, Diane, hopefully you don't have to worry too much about snow!
