I made the front cover of a National Magazine The Residential Specialist. Now What?

By
Real Estate Agent with Home Real Estate

I wanted to share with the community an amazing opportunity that I was blessed with. I made the front cover of the Residential Specialist, an honor that I never imagined I could ever achieve as a Realtor. It was an article about a 100 percent financing, 30 year fixed, no money down, no closing cost loan that is available to everyone (owner occupied only) nationally.

Personally, my hope is that all Realtors nationally can lead their clients to this product and utilize it. This program can most definitely revolutionize your business. I am happy to share with any and all that may have interest.

My question for the group, what would you do to best use this opportunity that I have been given to better market myself. Personally, I am still in shock that I even am on the cover of a magazine. What would you tell me to do if you were my mentor?

That's totally cool.  Congratulations!  I don't really have additional ideas to what's already been suggested, other than to say bilk it for all it's worth!  Maybe give them out as Christmas gifts?  :)

Steven, Congratulations and make the best of this award. Place your magazines all over your farm area. The best way is the internet viral advertising.

Congratulations Steven!  All great comments and suggestions, I really liked Bill Dean's #6  "Post & Boast"

Congratulations, don't let it go to your head and make sure you continue to do the things that got you there in the first place. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I would rent a billboard with a copy of that magazine cover and include my phone number, website and email address (and of course, by law, the Broker's name and phone number)...

Congratulations, Stephen!  I haven't seen a reply post from you regarding any of the suggestions or a link to your article.  Don't miss the boat on follow-up to your AR community.  Sounds like they're all rooting for you.

Hi Steve,

Great job getting there, that is half the challenge. I would suggest putting that information everywhere, biz cards, email, website, ect. Utilize it to your advantage.Get many copies and send out to all you clients, that is a no brainer.

The cover looks great, I would like a copy.

I'm with Greg, stop acting like you didn't earn it. Cash in on the opportunity & broadcast it all over the internet. Get some buyers from it ASAP.

My own story when this happened to me last year, I'd have to say my collegues were very disappointing. None really congratulated me, most made fun of me saying they never heard of the magazine. Hopefully you work with better people than I do. :-)

Enjoy your 15 minutes of fame.

Then...get back to work as the magazine article won't pay the bills.

Only YOU can pay the bills.

Get reprints to include in any of your presentations; be sure the local paper/TV stations know so they can do a story, include it on your web site.  Bill's (#6) comment about "Post & Boast" is on target. Does the local college have a real estate class - be a guest speaker.  Kiwanis club , etc.. Strike while hot.

You've gotten so many good pieces of advice here - I won't repeat them.

The first thing I would add is that you should prepare a really good letter of response to those who will contact you because of this wonderful exposure. Look how many of your commenters here already want to know more!

So be ready.

Also, I didn't notice if anyone mentioned these yet...

Send copies to local real estate agencies and offer to do a seminar.

Get someone to interview you for a tele-seminar and invite all the local real estate agents.

I will have to make time to read that article.  Congrats!

For some reason Dr. Hook's song "Cover of the Rolling Stone" is playing an infinite loop in my head right now.

I have been approached to be an ambassador for CRS here in Idaho, so I need to learn more about that program to make sure I can do it justice before I accept or decline.

Dear Steven,

If you do mailings, I would agree with Mel & Gretchen (#67). Get reprints and use them as one of your mailings. All other ideas (website, SOI, etc.) have been mentioned plenty before.
