Making an Entrance..Does it Say "Come In" ?

By

The entry of a home makes a statement. Is it inviting? Is it welcoming? Does it say "Come In" ?

This is the entrance foyer of my newest listing, a 3264' Rancher plus a full basement in Sagamore Forest II Reistersown, MD 21136.

Look at the hardwood floors, the granite accents...leading to the spiral staircase, the 10 foot  high ceilings... all cedar, the wood closet doors, the inlaid ceramic flooring, the brightness and the general decor. This foyer sets a mood for the rest of the tour. I think it says, 'Come In'

Entrance is very important Margaret as your illustration photos show. It can say WOW from the first step in.

Margaret,

I always enjoy tour posts... but to be candid, I do agree with Stephen (#25). This is actually the second impression. I'd love to see the approach to the front door. It's probably very appealing too.

Please do a follow-up with comments from your buyer side prospects. This may be the colour de jour, but I'll bet very few would pick this.... but that's just my opinion.

The front door is very important to me when I am doing a fix and flip home. There are times when I request the seller to put a new front door to make it say WELCOME. SOLD

Margaret, as evidenced by comments above, we all have differences of opinion...and mine is that I love the dog portrait and would not be distracted at all looking around for the dog. The colors in the portrait are a beautiful accent to the wall color and I'm just not one to assume that what is in the portraits is also in the house. :)

Put me down for liking the wall color.  Here in Hawaii it would not do as well.  Neutral colors are the standard here.

Gay, Ha. You are not in NY anymore.

Randy, The average person would like neutral colors here also.

Leilani, I love reading everyone's comment and opinion and so does my seller.

Harry, This home is so much more than a front door..I will have more photos shortly. Good idea with a flipper to put a new door on.

Pafford Homes, Thanks for stopping by.

Erica, This will be a fun home to show.

Brad, Thanks for your opinion...more photos to follow...stay tuned.

Gary, Guess you never have a second chance to make that first impression.

Carla, What color would you choose? With the right price, we can have it painted.

Kristi, Thank you.

The entry, like the front yard, should both be inviting to keep a buyer interested.

Margaret - indeed it does say come in, and I expect the front door from the outside does as well,. Sadly so many entrances are not so inviting, and a few are downright scary, especially those vacant short sales and REOs.

Margaret---Either homes in Baltimore are very unique and unusual, or you just have some very wonderfully creative sellers!  Every lisitng you have reminds me of a Frank Lloyd Wright and all are simply gorgeous!  This entire home is lovely!!

Pat, Maryland loves "cloneonials" a term I coined to describe the four bedroom brick colonial with 2.5 baths, two car garage and in the "perfect" school district.  I will sell these but they are not exciting to me like the contemporary.
