Holiday Charity

Getting your house ready for sale is a great opportunity for donating unused items to charity.  It is especially timely now that the holidays are nearing.

I'm sure that everyone with children or grandchildren or co-workers with children or if you live within 28 miles of children (you get the idea) - has most surely been hit up for a fundraiser or ten.  They are done often and there is generally a hard press to contribute.  We refer fondly to the school's weekly newsletter as the Money Envelope.

But with the Holidays coming, I can't help but be touched by the fundraising pamphlets that came with this week's newsletter and I thought that AR would be a great place to pass on the information.

Hope Unlimited for Children rescues children living on the streets in Brazil.

Operation Christmas Child sends gift-filled shoeboxes to needy children worldwide.  This one was especially fullfilling to the kids because they helped fill the boxes and turned them into the school.

Obviously these are just a few of thousands of charities that can be found- many in your local area if you prefer.  The purpose is supporting one another, teaching our children kindness and the importance of charity for so many that need so much- not just toys but basic things that you and I take for granted.

Please share your favorite charities, it can bring awareness and inspiration to others.

Hi Gina,

What a lovely and timely idea!  I wonder if there could be a way to present that idea to your local realtors and work in tandem with them to contact sellers.  Perhaps you could offer to get the ball rolling and they could provide the 'contact list'. You could call each seller, introduce yourself and let them know what it is you do, and discuss the possibilty of starting to clear out their 'house' now that it is on the market and let them know how this will also ultimately benefit them in reducing what needs to be packed when the house sells.

This is "Staging It Forward" in action!

Val, your suggestion is a perfect example of "outside of the box thinking",  I am going to start on it today.  Thank you so much for taking the idea to the next level, I will keep you posted on how it goes!

You're not only helping those who wants to stag or staggers with invaluable tips and great ideas but you also care about the less fortunate--I reeaallly admire you now! I always have given to Operation Christmas Child and others. It's the very lest we could do during Christmas time when we have so much to be thankful of. Keep up the great job!!
