QUOTE OF THE MONTH:  "Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure of our thanksgiving."  W.T. Purkiser

What is the Buzz in Real Estate ....

Interest Rates!!!  Up and then down, and then what does the future look like ahead of us?  The Fed  just unloaded a lot of money which points in the direction that rates may go down a little farther in the near future and stay a little longer than anticipated.  Great news for home buyers, refinances, and people looking to get into new homes around 4% as well as possible refinance rates as low as 3.37% in some cases.  If you would like more information on refinancing your home, please contact me and I would certainly like to help point you in the right direction of the professionals I work with.

Looking to sell your home???  Mid November is the usual slow down for home sales, but with rates at all time lows, the houses may still move.  Pricing is a must as the New listings come out every day and is creating some what of a buyers market.  Look ahead for strong home sales in February and to stay nimble until then.  If you are looking to sell sometime in the future, contact me and we can get you started and look at your home value as well as some work that may need to be done to get ready to sell your home.  The lenders and appraisers have new guidelines of items that may not pass on homes when you are trying to sell them, so knowing ahead of time is a must!  Happy House Hunting!

Air Filters - Keep Those Heating and Air Conditioning Filters Clean

It's also vital that you clean the filters in your home's heating and air conditioning systems regularly. Mold builds up in moist, damp places and can cause respiratory difficulties, allergies, and illness. For instance, if you have a humidifier, it's especially important to keep it clean and mold-free, and to check the filter regularly.

Baby Your Home Air Filter: Change It When It Needs Changing

How frequently you'll need to change your home air filter depends on how much you use it, and on the manufacturer's guidelines for your specific brand and model. Many manufacturers offer a wide range of air filters, including filter media for electronic air cleaners, furnace replacement pads, a furnace air filter, a humidifier filter and a dehumidifier filter.

Is my house in the new proposed flood plain? - You could have some unwanted bills in your future???  Knowing ahead is worth it...

Many areas have been affected by flooding and the new flood maps are still being proposed.  Check and see where your house is located, as you may have to acquire flood insurance in the future, and that can be a bill you didn't expect to pay, or if your on a budget, you will need to start making some plans.

Thanksgiving Food Ideas:  Caramelized Onion Stuffing

Make Classic Stuffing tossing in 2 cups caramelized onions and 3/4 cup grated parmesan with the bread. Top with more parmesan before baking.

Melt 1 stick butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add 2 cups each diced onions and celery and 1 tablespoon each minced sage and thyme; add salt and pepper and cook 5 minutes. Add 3 cups turkey or chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Beat 2 eggs with 1/4 cup chopped parsley in a large bowl; add 16 cups cubed stale white bread, then pour in the vegetable-broth mixture and toss. Transfer to a buttered baking dish and dot with butter. Cover and bake 30 minutes at 375 degrees F; uncover and bake until golden, 30 more minutes. (Or stuff in your turkey and bake.)
