Sellers Are as Frustrated with Agents as They Are with Buyers!

Real Estate Agent with S & L Properties

Today, I received a very angry email from a client.  She was not angry with me but she was furious with the five agents she contacted about listing her property.  For personal reasons, I am not renewing her listing.  I have had the properties listed for quite awhile and just before it expired, I explained my situation to her...no problem.  I suggested a few agents; she called them plus a few others.  Two agents never called her back; one told her she had to drop the price to match the other old houses in the community, and one gave her a price but the agent couldn't find the property...but gave her a price (couldn't find it for a drive by or on expired mls).  Oh, One told her they were too busy...would get to her next week.  Our market is not that hot!  I told her that some of the agents may have felt they were taking a listing from me and I would email them directly to tell them it had expired and I am okay with the situation.  I have left the lockbox for any agent to access the property so I don't understand why they are being so difficult.

I have read about some of these same issues on other blogs.  You know, it doesn't take much effort to be a top agent...just a little attention to detail.

Sounds like a bunch of unmotivated agents.... although is your seller motivated to sell? There may be some indication why these agents are not responding?

Who are these agents?  I fall all over myself for opportunities like this.

I would love an opportunity like this as well.  Some people just don't know when they're being handed a good thing.

Linda, it seems real estate has gone the way of many other professions....lack of customer service.  We see it all the time.  You call a business to try to buy something, get something repaired, etc, and these people act like they are doing you a big favor to help you or they don't bother to return your call.  We opened a new real estate company earlier this year and did extensive remodeling to the building we leased.  Since so many in the construction business are out of work, we thought this would be work for some that we knew.  A couple of them gave us ridiculous bids - they wanted X dollars per hour or they weren't interested....and one guy didn't return the call for TWO WEEKS and was just irritated that we had already completed the job by then.

Eileen, we do alot of constuction, also.  They wonder why they are out of works, and of course, they flock to the welfare department for all those freebies.  Many of them have "At home wives" and they want the big bucks like a few years ago...but then so do hairdressers, massage therapists, and housekeepers.
