For years I watched a young gentleman ride his bike down my street never dreaming he was the independent film producer of the documentary "Riding Bikes with the Dutch" that had been making news in Long Beach for the past year. A chance encounter with his wife last week lead me to this realization. I can vouch for Michael Bauch; he rarely goes anywhere in a car and everyday he rides his bike!
Mike’s many trips to Europe, where he observed a much different approach to biking than our own, inspired the making of the film and have caused him to be one of Long Beach’s biggest advocates for more bike friendly enviroment.
I encourage anyone interested in the future of bicycling in Long Beach and around the world to come to the Art Theater (2025 E. 4th Street) this Sunday, November 14, 2010 at 11:30 for one more chance to catch a screening of this excellent documentary by one of our own neighbors.
