Great news for Historic Downtown New Bern!

The New Bern Board of Aldermen on Tuesday approved a location for new public restrooms for downtown visitors.

The Historic Preservation Commission will need to provide the final nod before the project may proceed.

"This is a consensus issue right now, that we need public bathrooms," Mayor Lee Bettis said prior to the unanimous board vote.

The site, in a vacant city-owned lot that reaches the corner of Craven and South Front streets, is the eighth location that two groups considered. Segments of the public had negative issues with the other seven locations.

Lets hope that Historic Preservation Commission aproves it as I think that is well needed in downtown are for all of us that enjoy walking or runing through New Bern
