Common Sense Customer Service - does it really matter?

Real Estate Agent with eXp Realty

I been thinking about customer service a lot lately. I'm constantly being taken aback in my own personal experiences when dealing with public personnel whom I'm requesting service from and their overall lack of customer service. Customer service is blogged about a lot and it can really stir up a lot of feelings on what is customer service and how to achieve optimum customer service which was written on recently by a great Active Rain blogger, Gary Woltal in Secrets of Customer service.

South Florida Customer Service in Real EstateWouldn't you think in these tough economic times with unemployment rates at all time highs, that those who relish in a Customer Service driven profession would be going overboard to provide the ultimate customer service experience in order to eliminate the fear of being unemployed? I would think yet, my experiences do not exhibit such behavior. Why is that do you think? Is it arrogance? Is it apathy? What is it? Well, I guess we won't be able to figure out why people do what they do or should I say "don't" do what they should.

Customer service to me, is really pretty easy to accomplish as I'm sure most can agree on this statement. How difficult is it to provide service when we all like to be treated well? After all, it's our livelihood. Isn't it one of the great characteristics that one should behold to be successful here in America? Isn't it part of the unlimited opportunities that are available to us here in America? To grow ones business you need to provide excellence in Customer Service which in turns will give you great freedom on not having to depend on others. Aren't we a country of not wanting to depend on others? We can do all of this and it starts by providing excellence in service whether it's in Real Estate or any other industry.

I closed on a Short Sale about a month ago and just recently received a written testimonial letter from my customer and was blessed by his words of gratitude. One line really stood out for me and I wanted to share with you the value of excellence in  customer service and how it really can make all the difference in what we do; it can make you form a lump in your throat when you know that you've done your best. My customer said:"...if Lynn counts her currency by the help she gives to distressed homeowners, then she must be rich indeed" This is a great reason to value excellence in customer service when it isn't always just about the money.

I have had two extreme cases of customer service: one terrific (Target) and one not so much (HP) in the past week.  Now, the purchase price of the items varied greatly, but the Target return was easy, breezy, and enjoyable while the HP exchange was much more stressful.  I agree, one would think customer service would be critical to many right now, and it sure does not seem to be.

Hi Andy, you're right....the service we provide really does require time and patience

Hi Carol,  oh I know it's crazy on how vastly different our customer service experiences can be. I also wonder why people are in customer service jobs if they don't like to provide service.
