Some of you may have noticed the movie production vehicles at Manito Park this morning on spokane's South Hill.  A movie is being filmed here and it's called Camilla Dickenson.

The film, set in 1948 in New York, is produced by larry Estes and directed by Cornelia Puryee.  The film, Estes' first in Spokane is based on the novel Camilla, and is a dram about first love and finding it.

It's exciting to see so many movies being filmed here in the Spokane.  It's even more encouraging to see so many great Independent films made in the region as well as those by major movie companies.

Some well known movies filmed in Spokane have included, probably one of my favorite Independent films, Smoke Signals (1998), End Game (2006). Vision Quest (1985), The Cutter (2005), Mozart and the Whale (2005)

Larry said there's some well known actors in this movie but for the time being he's being tight lipped about who has been cast in the film.  As much as I would have loved to see the filming of a scene in progress and snap some great pictures, I think we should remain respectful of the filming of the movie.

Of course we all love it that movies are being made right here in Spokane because it has a positive impact on our area economy for one thing and how cool is it to see our town up on the big screen?  Even so, I would have really liked to get a first hand peak of an outdoor movie set in production.  It's called a closed set for a reason, and so that will just have to wait!
