Endorsed Referrals - What a Week!

As an independent Broker, I run a small business and while every week usually brings some sort of referral, four referrals was a surprise.  These referrals can be from a variety of sources within my SOI.   They can be from neighbors, friends of friends, etc.  My absolute favorite and most humbling referral is the Endorsed Referral.

This week I received four Endorsed Referrals.  A personal record.  Two sellers and two buyers.  All business is good, but these are the special ones.   Endorsed referrals come from previous clients.   It's a wonderful feeling to know that our past clients have the utmost confidence in our knowledge and abilities, that they believe in the service we provide and that we are the right choice in a Realtor for their friends/family.

    By the time I actually receive the call, that new client is already on board - their confidence and comfort levels are already elevated; we just have to make it happen.      As one couple told me last evening - "our friends said you are WHO we need to talk too".

The endorsed referrals this week are:

 1)  Short Sale Listing - referred from a successfully closed short sale seller in 2009;

 2)  a couple splitting up where either one will buy out or sell short sale - referred from another successful short sale seller in 2008).

 3) first time FHA buyer - referred by an investor buyer closed earlier this year.

4)  Investor buyer - referred by same buyer as the FHA buyer.

Many times, I receive these referrals due to the pairing of my title/escrow background and real estate brokerage, plus just knowing our Sacramento market since 1981.  (A gift of gab probably helps a little too).   It is a rare moment when I don't have the answers - I guess 30+ years around real estate will do that to you.

I'm off this morning to pick up Starbuck's Gift Cards, I have some thank-you's to attend to and alot of work to do for some very special people.

Cathy - I love referrals from my SOI; no better compliment than a referral from a previous client.  I like movie tickets as thank you's too.

Cathy:  my favorite referral was from a 1st time buyer, 4 yrs ago - she was new to everything real estate, so we held her hands through the process and she was extremely happy we were there for her... however, she kept apologizing that she took so much of our time for so little a commission ($105,000 condo) and I kept assuring her blah blah blah.... 1 month after she closed on her new home, she referred a couple who were divorcing - listing $700,000 purchase for each $500,000 and then one got remarried a year later, so there goes a listing and a new purchase a total of 2.9M from one small 1st time buyer happy client!!

No question you are doing an outstanding job to receive those referrals this week - well done and deserved.

Donne:  Referrals from SOI are the best - but four from closed clients just blew me away this week.  It was probably just the luck of the draw - but I am happy and thankful.    All of the new clients seem like they will be a real joy to work with.

Ellie:  You are so right.... you just never know how things will turn out.  I love to help people that enjoy being part of the process and let us "Care" for them.    They take what they learn in our transactions and end up being better buyers & sellers in the future.  I am certain that sense of caring you gave to your client is the link in your wonderful chain of referrals.  Thank you for sharing a great story.   It reads like the beginning of your next blog?

Joni, I do feel a bit more fired up today. :-)

Rebecca,   A side note to the story.  Last Tuesday, I had my 2nd call of the week.  No sooner than I had hung up the phone when the 3rd referral rang in.  Now.... that was a first time event.    Now... I just have to work them through to closed transactions and happy clients.
