Delray Beach Green Market, Delray Beach, FL
The weather was perfect this morning for the Delray Beach Green Market. The green market runs every Saturday through May 14 from 8 am to 1 pm. Located on SE 4th Avenue half a block south of Atlantic Avenue in the heart of downtown Delray Beach, this is a great place to spend a few hours and buy some locally grown foods.
My first stop was the Harvest Time Market. They had a lovely array of fresh veggies, fruits, both whole and cut up, as well as home-baked goods, which looked great! Ann told me their business is located a short distance away in Lake Worth. In a few weeks, their U-pick hydroponic strawberry field will be open.
While I was chatting with Ann about produce, I couldn't find Richard. He had wandered off into the Old School Bakery stand run by Shilah. Surrounded by breads, fresh baked muffins and assorted pastries, he was in heaven!
Shilah told us all about the bakery and cafe. They also have an outlet store at 45 N Congress Ave in Delray. She was helpful and very nice explaining the different breads. I can tell you the croissants never made it home!
My last stop was at Independent Seafood. The fresh seafood and fish that Fern had displayed looked amazing! Unfortunately for us, we weren't going home so this wasn't an option today. There was even a lady selling fresh eggs!
My haul for the day was croissants (not pictured because eaten on the way home), cranberry and blueberry muffins, wheat bread, lettuce, oranges, fresh fruit salad, grapes (also munched on) and a horse carrot.
Footnote on the organic Delicata squash from the Boca Raton Green Market, it was fabulous!
