As a Realtor®, we build and base our business around our relationships with our clients. At least I do. And I try my best to contact my database at every opportunity. I mean we have about 4-5 major holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, home anniversary, kid's birthdays...that's easily about 10 times a year out of 365 days that I have to contact my database, aside from the "just because" calls that I do. But those get pretty old. "Hey John, I'm calling just because....by the way, who do you know who needs to buy or sell their home?"
Well, I just found out that this Sunday, September 9th is National Grandparent's Day!
President Jimmy Carter, in 1978, proclaimed that National Grandparents Day would be celebrated every year on the first Sunday after Labor Day. For 2007, Grandparents Day falls on Sept. 9th.
National Grandparent's Day originated in West Virginia by a woman named Miran McQuade. She wanted to boost the morale of lonely elderly people in nursing homes as well as encourage the grandchildren to tap into the wisdom and heritage of their grandparents.
I use this information to stay in front of my clients. For National Grandparent's day, I'll send a card out to my clients either wishing them a Happy Grandparent's day or remind them to wish their grandparents a HGPD!
