Biblical Principles to Build a Business On

By

Last week I had the opportunity to attend Brian Buffini and Joe Neigal's Turning Point seminar for realtors in Anaheim. I was so impressed with the foundation of principles that these guys have established to run a successful business and balanced life. Usually at sales seminars the teaching is about how to be successful and make a lot of money. These guys bring a new approach that ends with you being very successful and making a lot of money, but starts with the foundation of caring for others and having your clients best interest in mind above your own. This has always been my philosophy, and it was refreshing to hear from successful people in this business who have founded their business and life on that philosophy.

Brian shared where he got his inspiration for his system for success and his business principles--it was from a Sunday school lesson. I thought I would share a few of the principles. I love these scriptures and how he ties in the meaning to relate to how you should run your business.

How are we to serve clients?

"Do nothing from selfish or empty coneit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; Do not merely look out for your own interests, but also the interests of others." ---Galations 6:7-10

How are we to plan?

(For a successful business and balanced life)

"Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established. The mind of man plans his way but the Lord directs his steps. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight."--Proverbs 16:3, 19:9, 3:4-6

How are we to work?

"Whatever you do, do your work heartily as for the Lord rather than men; knowing that from the Lord you will recieve the reward of inheritance." ---Colossians 3:23-24

Use the gifts God has given you to his glory

"For those who use well what they are given, even more shall be given and they shall have an abundance; but from those who do not use well what they are given, even what little they have will be taken away."--Matthew 25:14-29

To fulfill our potential, we must constantly commit to grow

"Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. ---Romans 12:2

The ultimate goal of our work, our business, and our lives

"Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your father who is in heaven. ---"Matthew 5:16

I was very inspired by these principles and will continue to reflect on them daily to remind me of how I will run my business and live a balanced life. A home provides not only a good financial investment, but also a place for someone to feel safe and secure. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to help people in real estate. I won't get caught letting my talents go to waste!
