Stott's Drug Store. Historic store in downtown Searcy. 1976 picture.

I've done two blogs with Stott's Drug store featured.  The drug store has been in Searcy at the same location for many years.  Going inside is also interesting because they have collectibles from the drug business all over the top shelf in the store.

They have recently remodeled the front to make it look old again!

And looking through an old 1976 Searcy High School yearbook I found their advertisement and this picture. The children of Roger and Virginia Williams proudly pose in the family drug store.  Nancy is now a druggist herself and manages the drug store.  Lindsey is in law enforcement and both make Searcy their home.

I will always have fond memories of Stotts Drug Store. I remember it was always fun to look at the display counters when I was a youngster. My grandparents always had a running tab that never got paid off at the end of the month. Several years after they had passed away, I paid off their $720 past due. I can't remember how I got the bill. After payment, I received a note thanking me. Very gracious staff at that store.

Barbara, Another very nice Searcy post. That 1976 yearbook picture makes me think those folks are about my vintage.

Don, you are right.  They are probably one of the last stores to grant credit.  We get a bill every month.  That was very nice of you to pay off your grandparents bill!

Charles, that makes your sorta middle-aged??  Actually it is very young!

Godmother, I am a good boy and I stay away from mind-altering druggists.

Don, you had to pay $720 and you still have fond memories? That's commendable.

When I lived downtown a year or so ago I would sometimes walk to Stott's to get a Coke in a glass bottle. There's just something special about that, you know?
