Despite the rain Friday afternoon those that attended the Veterans Day Festivities at the Veterans Memorial Park came away with a renewed sense of pride and love for this Nations Vets. Two events were the highlights of the celebration.
The first event was the dedication of the brand new Korean War Memorial which featured a Korean and an American Soldier side by side on patrol. This wonderful park is to highlight each conflict America has been involved in . The lifelike statues are awesome and at a distance do look lifelike. Dignitaries attending included 2 U.S. congressmen and the most highly decorated 4 star general from the Republic of Korea plus an entorage of many others attended this honorable event. The event renewed those who sat silently listening to the story of how America and Korean soldiers fought for freedom.
The second event was the reading of names of soldiers whose names had just been inscribed in the granite monument in the park. My Father-n-law ,a Korean War vet, was on hand to hear his name called. Soldiers from all eras are entitled to be on this wonderful wall. If you have a friend or relative who is a vet, and you want to honor them, then you too can have their name inscribed. It really means a lot to them!
