Speechless Sunday-(Sort of) Teenage Fun

Being the parent of a teenager can be very fun and entertaining.  My kids have had a 4 day weekend and my 7th grader started off being an angel.  She cleaned the whole house, did a bunch of laundry and made me very happy when I came home.  I hate my house being upside down, but these days it has been a little insane with getting home every night after 8 pm, many nights even 9:30.

I gave Ryen lots of love for her efforts.  It felt so good to have order again in the house.  The two oldest girls room is always disgusting as well as their bathroom.  I have been ignoring lately so I am not constantly angry, but it's not easy.

The next day Ryen's alterior motive came to light, she wants more time on her cell phone for calling and texting. I recently limited her hours to be only 5 pm-8 pm. She was texting during class, late at night, basically 24/7, as I realized she had over 8,000 text messages in 1 month.  Her attitude was also not so good.

I decided not to extend her time with her phone, I'm happy with the attitude I've had since changing the hours (it's a well worth the $5 a month).  Well, that didn't make her so happy with all the work she did. Sorry, I do appreciate, but things shouldn't have been such a mess and she should help out more.

I told her over and over how it makes me so much less grumpy when I'm in a clean home (they claim all I do is fuss!!!)  So I have told them, keep things in order if you want less fuss, it's simple to me, I'm just saying!!!

Well, two days later, I fussed.  It was starting to pile up again, easy to do when they are home all day. They had been home 2 hours, messy kitchen, I said clean it up.  I left for an hour, came home, it was messy, again. I fussed.  Clean up when your done!!!

Ryen decided that was just too much!!! I was Crazy!!!

I took her oldest sister to babysit and I waited at my mom's for her job to end to pick her up.  I came home to the following:

Teenage Room

That's all her clothes (as well as her older sister's) clothes packed.  She's moving out.  I work her too hard!!!  LMAO!!!

She was asleep when I got home.  Her older sister showed me.  We laughed.  This morning everything seemed fine.  No word of her move.  I wonder if it will still be there when I get home and how the kitchen will look.

Thanks Ryen, for a good chuckle!!!

Thanks for the fun read Kim. My Tina is 10 years old and she would fit right in with your girls. I can tell her to pick up a wrapper on the floor, she does, and just drop it 10' down the line.

Oh yeah,.... I remember those days!

My kids when they hit 7 years old they learned how to wash their own clothes. A lot of parents were horrified when I told them this. So I asked them,,,, who works the VCR, DVD, DVR better, you or them? Who is better at playing any kind of Wii game you or them? How many buttons does your washer and dryer have? EXACTLY... the machine is simple.

Do they know the difference between black, white and red? No? Well my son only wore pink underwear once.

Kids need more responsibility in keeping the house up. Some parents like me work two jobs and I don't have much time for house work. I think it makes them a better person and prepared for when they go off to school or to live on their own.

My parents raised me like this and I turned out finely motivated.

Indera-LOL, I went to work all day Sunday and when I came home later that evening it was all put away again.  The funny thing is, I don't even know if she knows I saw it.  She doesn't know I blogged about it, ha ha

Michael-Seriously!!!  Crazy!!!

Bob-What wrapper? My kids don't see wrappers, they think they go in the couch cushions.

Jane-I think I'm better off with girls, wouldn't know what to do with a boy, lol!!! but, yeah, we have drama some days, let me tell ya, still wouldn't trade em though

Susan-Now, that's some good logic!!!
